Femi Aluko is a Nigerian tech entrepreneur and software engineer, co-founder and CEO of Chowdeck. He was born on March 31, 1993. He grew up in Akesan, a small village in Alimosho LGA, Lagos state. Femi Aluko attended Obafemi Awolowo University where he graduated as the best graduating student with a degree in electronic and electrical engineering in 2015.
Early Career: His professional journey began with roles in engineering and software development at companies like Toptech Engineering Ltd, Softblue Nigeria Limited, Hutbay, and Shopping Internet Services. These positions provided him with a solid foundation in both hardware and software systems.
Paystack Experience: Femi Aluko joined Paystack in 2017 as the fifth engineer and then he became its first Core Payments Engineer. He was later promoted to Principal Engineer, a top-tier technical role, for his outstanding performance. He played a significant role in scaling Paystack and was responsible for building the core payment infrastructure for multiple payment methods.
Founding Chowdeck: "Spending time in Dubai opened my eyes. During that trip, I got the idea to create reliable food delivery. The frustration with the delivery system in Nigeria started long before, but it was significantly worse when I caught Covid," Femi said. "I got my test result on New Year's Eve, and because I had to self-isolate and couldn't go out to purchase food, I had to rely on ordering online. Unfortunately, I couldn't find food to order on January 1, 2021. It was a terrible experience. But it made me realise I had to solve the problem".
Inspired by a seamless food delivery experience in Dubai, Femi co-founded Chowdeck in October 2021 alongside Olumide Ojo (CTO) and Lanre Yusuf (COO). Chowdeck aims to revolutionize food delivery in Nigeria by offering fast, reliable service, with deliveries often completed in under 30 minutes.
Building Strategy: "We bought three bikes, got three riders, gave them to two restaurants to use, and observed them closely. After three months of watching, we had clarity of the problem. We dumped most of our initial mockups and designs and came up with a quick solution in a few weeks," Femi said. By September 2021, the team deployed an early version of Chowdeck at Lagos State University.
Chowdeck's Growth: Within 6 months of launching, Chowdeck had completed over 80,000 food deliveries. By October 2024, Chowdeck had surpassed ₦30 billion in total deliveries and amassed over 1 million registered users. In early November 2025 (2 weeks ago), Chowdeck celebrated achieving a major milestone by surpassing one million orders in October 2025, its highest monthly tally, with daily order volume increasing from approximately 30,000 to over 40,000 orders.
In May 2024, Chowdeck secured $2.5 million in seed funding from top investors like Y Combinator, Goodwater Capital, FoundersX Ventures, and True Culture Fund, signalling international confidence in Femi's long-term vision.

Seye Bandele always had big dreams. As a child, he confidently declared his ambition to become a billionaire. While the journey to that goal has been anything but easy, his relentless drive, strategic mindset, and passion for technology have put him firmly on that path. Today, he is the co-founder and CEO of PaidHR, a Nigerian startup revolutionizing HR management for African businesses.
Early Life & Education: Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Seye moved with his family to Ibadan at age five, where his father sought a quieter environment after retirement. With his dad mostly at home and his mum working at a bank, Seye's childhood was shaped by an academic focus, leaving little room for typical childhood activities like video games or cable TV. Instead, he found entertainment in his father's vast library, immersing himself in books that fueled a love for knowledge—a foundation that would later play a key role in his success.
Inspired by tech visionaries like Jeff Bezos, Larry Ellison, Jerry Yang, and David Filo, he set his sights on a career in technology. However, despite his plans to study computer science, he was admitted to study agricultural science at Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) instead. His parents encouraged him to accept the course, but his passion for business and technology never wavered.
Entrepreneurial Beginnings: While in university, Seye launched Showoff Magazine, the first campus journal at FUNAAB. He focused more on selling magazines and growing the publication than on academics, setting the foundation for his future as an entrepreneur.
Career Journey: After graduating, Seye chose to complete his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Abuja to gain exposure outside Lagos. There, he trained as a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analyst, working with a private consultancy on land administration software. During this period, he met Lekan Omotosho, who would later become his co-founder at PaidHR.
Before founding PaidHR, Bandele was a business development, strategy, and marketing professional. He'd previously held chief of marketing roles at Konga and Yudala, and ran a marketing consulting agency alongside Chikodi Ukaiwe (now CEO of Salad Africa). During his consulting days, Bandele worked with companies like Flour Mills and, notably, HR tech competitor SeamlessHR.
Founding PaidHR: While navigating corporate life, Seye and Lekan continued to develop software applications for government agencies, including the Abia State GIS system, which remains in use today. These experiences sharpened his ability to identify gaps in business operations particularly in HR and employee management which led to the birth of PaidHR.
In 2020, still running his consulting gig, Bandele began work on PaidHR. Together with his co-founder, Omotosho, they spent about three months studying various global HR software companies—Gusto, Swingvy, and Zenitz—before deciding on their product direction. The first version of PaidHR was a direct copy of Gusto, the YC-backed San Francisco-based company that provides cloud-based payroll, benefits, and human resource management software.
PaidHR's Growth: In July 2024, Seye and Lekan rebranded their HR software from Pade HCM to PaidHR, focusing on streamlining HR processes, payroll management, and employee benefits. The company quickly gained traction, attracting businesses looking for efficient ways to manage their workforce.
PaidHR has grown into a leading HR solutions provider in Nigeria, currently processing payroll for over 250 companies and impacting the lives of around 25,000 employees. Seye has ensured that the company maintains an impressive 5% employee attrition rate, demonstrating his commitment to effective people management.
PaidHR's first angel check was $5,000 from Bandele's friend. He would get another $5,000 from another friend. And yet another friend from high school would connect him to the lead investor for their $500,000 pre-seed round. By the end of 2022, PaidHR had 35 customers and $5,000 in monthly recurring revenue and had processed ₦7.24 billion in salaries.
In June 2025, PaidHR raised a $1.8 million seed round led by Accion Venture Lab, bringing total funding raised to $2.3 million. The startup is now present in Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa, serving nearly 300 businesses.
Personal Values: Despite his demanding career, Seye remains deeply committed to self-improvement and impact. He is passionate about education, believing that Africa's future depends on equipping young people with the right knowledge and skills. He actively supports initiatives that bridge the education gap, ensuring that more young Africans gain access to quality learning opportunities. He is married with two kids and loves to keep his family life private.
Femi Iromini is the Co-founder and CEO of Moni (now rebranded as Rank), founded in 2021 with Adedapo Sobayo. Femi previously worked with the World Bank Group with a focus on financial services.
Moni's Model: Moni finances small businesses in groups across Africa, where the collective responsibility of the group serves as collateral on the loan. This innovative approach to lending addresses the challenge of providing credit to small businesses that lack traditional collateral.
Strategic Transformation: In November 2025, Moni rebranded to Rank and acquired AjoMoney, a digital group-savings platform, and Zazzau Microfinance Bank, marking a strategic shift towards delivering a wider range of financial services for communities. With the acquisition of Zazzau MFB, now operating as Rank Microfinance Bank, the YC-backed fintech is transforming from a community lending platform into a licensed provider of savings, payments, and investment services.
This transformation represents a significant evolution from their original focus on group lending to becoming a full-service financial institution capable of serving broader community financial needs.
Nifemi Oluboyede is someone you would usually find at the intersection between payment and its delivery through technology. He is a Certified Digital Finance Practitioner from Tufts University's Fletcher School and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University.
Current Roles: He currently serves as the General Secretary of the Association of Digital Finance Practitioners (ADFP) and heads Products and Partnerships at Credit Direct. As Chief Product Officer at Credit Direct, he has overseen the launch of their new suite of fintech products, including the Credit Direct Mobile App, an all-in-one platform where customers can borrow, pay, invest, and grow their finances with an interest-earning wallet.
His dual role in industry leadership through ADFP and product innovation at Credit Direct positions him as a key figure in shaping Nigeria's digital finance landscape, bridging policy advocacy with practical product development.
Yinka Adewale is the co-founder and CEO of Nomba, the Lagos-based leading fintech player in Nigeria with a mission to improve financial inclusion in the country and Africa. Having lived and studied in Nigeria his whole life, Yinka represents a rare breed of fintech founders who are totally home-grown.
Early Passion for Technology: Prior to going for his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University (2009-2015), he had already spent several years writing computer software and at the age of 11, he had started building computer programs. "Building computer software has always been a passion for me because it allows me to do and process things faster," says Yinka.
Early Experience: Yinka worked at Microsoft as a Student Partner from 2013 to 2015, where he educated students about Microsoft Technologies and organized trainings and seminars for developers, convincing startups to use the .NET stack and deploy their web services on Microsoft Azure. In 2014, Adewale co-founded Clinicfy, a cloud-based financial software for hospitals to track their revenues and invoices.
First Payments Venture: "I launched a pet project with a few friends in 2014 where we were issuing NFC cards to students and a mobile phone to merchants to accept payments. This was before point-of-sale (POS) terminals became mainstream in Nigeria. We had about 30,000 customers, 500 merchants and I enjoyed doing that for about three years and then I left".
Founding Nomba (Kudi): Nomba was started by Yinka Adewale and Pelumi Aboluwarin in 2016 (initially as Kudi). It connects underbanked and unbanked Nigerians to a network of agents who can help with transactions like money transfers, bill payments, and cash withdrawals. The company started as a simple chatbot that could answer simple questions about money, but it has since grown in what it can do.
Funding & Growth: In 2017, Yinka got into the Y-Combinator batch and raised a seed round of $1 million, led by Khosla Ventures, and raised $5 million Series A funding in 2019. To date, Nomba has processed $6 billion annualized in payment volume.
Philosophy on Growth: "However, for us, it's not just about raising so much venture capital since we are here to build a sustainable business. Don't get me wrong, having some amount of venture capital in the bank definitely helps to accelerate things, but being able to build a business that has the right unit economics is what allows you to grow," says Yinka. "So while we do have an appetite for investors, we think that at the end of the day, the best place to actually get funding from is your customers. By providing value to our own users, we are able to generate enough cash flow to grow our business and this has been our differentiating approach to building our fintech in Nigeria".
After a public rebrand from Kudi to Nomba, the company expanded its lines of business and continues to be a significant player in Nigeria's fintech ecosystem.

Egemba Chinonso Fidelis (born 26 October 1990) popularly known as Aproko Doctor, is a Nigerian doctor, health influencer and an actor. He is the founder of Healthy Brands and 100K Club, a non-profit organisation.
Early Life & Education: Chinonso was born on October 26, 1990, in Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria, and grew up in a supportive middle-class family. He attended reputable private schools in Imo State for his primary and secondary education. After excelling in his WAEC and NECO examinations, he secured admission into Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, where he earned his medical degree in 2015.
Medical Career: Following his graduation in 2015, he commenced his medical practice at the Imo State Teaching Hospital in 2016. In 2017, seeking broader opportunities, he relocated to Lagos State, where he continued his medical career.
The Birth of Aproko Doctor: Dr Chinonso Fidelis Egemba was in his fourth year at Nnamdi Azikiwe University when he and some of his medical student colleagues helped diagnose a patient. By the time he graduated, in 2015, Egemba went in a different direction which soon gave rise to his nickname – the "Aproko" doctor. Aproko is a pidgin word used to describe a "busybody".
In 2017 he rolled out "Aproko Doctor" as a medical initiative. His peers, who believed he was demeaning the profession, rebuked him. "I was called the 'Google Doctor' by my colleagues. Some said I'm the doctor who 'wastes his time'. Others criticized me for not using medical jargon in my messages," Egemba said. "But that was deliberate. I wanted my messages to be very simple and understood by anyone," he added.
Digital Impact: As of October 2025, his digital footprint commands a community of nearly 10 million active users across his social media platforms. This digital empire has 2.4 million followers on Twitter/X, over 461,000 YouTube subscribers, 2.2 million on TikTok, over 124,000 followers on LinkedIn and 2.1 million each on Instagram and Facebook.

Organizations Founded: He serves as the Executive Director of the 100K Club, a non-profit organisation he founded in 2020 to provide critical health assistance to underprivileged Nigerians. Furthermore, he is the co-founder of AwaDoc, a health-tech platform that efficiently connects patients to healthcare professionals for virtual consultations.

Personal Life: Aproko Doctor is married to Chiamaka Nwakalor-Egemba, a renowned Afro-fusion chef and food content creator. The couple tied the knot in June 2020 and currently live in Lagos with their child.
Philosophy: "We don't have a knowledge gap in healthcare; we have an access and communication gap. We can't sit around waiting for the system to change. We need to take our life-saving knowledge to where the people are. Online, in their communities, and on their phones. That's how we change the game," Dr Egemba said.

Ibukun Tunde-Oni is the Founder and CEO of EightMedical, dubbed "911 for Africa" – a platform that connects emergency medical responders (resources- people, places (hospitals), data, and vehicles/ambulances) to users in need in 10 minutes or less.
Background: First, I am a medical doctor who has been practicing for 11 years. I have also founded a few companies; one was in health care and the other in logistics. Background-wise, I am one of five kids, the only doctor in my family, and most times, usually saddled with the responsibility of saving the day. I had medical school in Nigeria, traveled out of the country for a bit.
Previous Ventures: He previously co-founded Awabike which is a micro-mobility company and founded PrivateMD as a Chief Executive Officer. After starting his first company, he eventually sold that off.
The Tragic Inspiration: Between 2020 & 2021, during COVID-19, there were so many unfortunate emergencies and I lost two of my uncles. One died from an asthmatic attack. He died in traffic while coming from a 'wrong' hospital which his driver took him to. The other uncle passed away while eating Christmas lunch with his family. All through these difficult times, my family was calling to ask me what I could do in such situations being the only doctor in the family.
The founder, Dr. Ibukun Tunde-Oni, needlessly lost two of his uncles due to an asthma attack and a heart attack. He himself had a near-death experience after a car accident when he couldn't access care for close to three hours.
Eight Medical's Mission: Eight Medical is an end-to-end platform that identifies and connects urgent and emergency medical resources like hospitals, ambulances, personnel, information and credit, to users in need within 10 minutes or less. Founded in 2021, Eight Medical aims to enable access to essential care for Africa's 1.5 billion people.
"We are able to achieve this by leveraging a robust and efficient network of individuals, ambulances and technology to provide ambulance response, ambulance transport and ambulance standby services to our users. Think of us as the 'Uber + 911' for Africa," Ibukun Tunde-Oni told Disrupt Africa.
The Problem: Nine out of 10 Africans lack access to urgent and emergency medical services, which results in five million unnecessary deaths annually due to preventable and avoidable causes, such as road traffic accidents, cardiac arrest.
Impact & Growth: Since its launch, Eight Medical has handled over 12,705 calls, with an average response time of ten minutes.
Acceleration & Recognition: Eight Medical has been selected as one of 12 African startups for the prestigious Techstars Accelerator Programme. Earlier this month (June 2024), it was selected as a finalist in the Pitch2Win competition, along with 14 other Nigerian startups, with a prize of $10,000.
Operations: "We operate in Nigeria and plan to extend our service across a few African countries and possibly the UK over the coming months".
Vision for the Future: "Nigeria has about 200 million people, there is obviously a market to sell but, not everyone can afford health tech. For those who create things and are solving problems, the sky is their limit but for those who are not solving problems, it will become apparent in a few months because investors are tired of storytelling without actual results"

Fakorede spoke about managing relationships with older subordinates: "I feel it is not just the country. I feel that if you run a particular organisation or establishment, it is not a function of how old you are. You have seen men in their 20s and you have seen boys in their 40s. It's not a function of age as it were. If you can coordinate, manage and administer a system, it is a function of wisdom".

Layi Wasabi, whose real name is Isaac Ayomide Olayiwola, is a Nigerian comedian, actor, and content creator. The 22-year-old (now 27 as of 2025) law graduate from Bowen University has amassed a following of over 3 million across social media since he began his skit making journey three years ago.
Early Life & Education: Layi was born on July 11, 1998, in Osogbo, Osun State, and lived there for most of his life with his mother and brother. His father passed away when he was a child, so he was raised by his mother, uncles, and other relatives. His primary and secondary school education was in Osun State, and he got his degree in law from Bowen University. Despite being a popular comedian, he is a qualified, professional lawyer.
Loss & Resilience: He lost his dad when he was about two years old, a detail that is part of the emotional backbone of his story: grief transformed into focus, discipline, and a comedic voice that still carries a tender affection for ordinary people. When creators experience the loss of a parent at a young age, they often develop two key skills: empathy and urgency. You can feel both in Layi's work.
Character Development: He studied law in school, and his academic background included studying law at the university. He served at the Ministry of Justice in Ibadan during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). He did most of his internships in Osogbo at courthouses, where there were a lot of lawyers hanging around the court premises. His comedic material was from observation; he was able to see these characters and just kind of assume what their day-to-day lives look like.
Throughout this time, he created several characters to entertain his audience. There's Mr. Richard, the Ponzi schemer constantly philosophizing about money and poverty to recruit new members into his get-rich-quick masterclasses. He also portrays The Law, a wandering, office-less lawyer who settles the most bizarre and bemusing cases.
Breakthrough: Professor video emerged in early 2022. Wasabi reflects, "I'd been creating videos in 2021, but without much traction. Although I had a viral hit in 2021, the turning point arrived with the Professor video." This marked the moment Wasabi noted that his comedy was taking off. When he told his class teacher that he wanted to be a comedian, she said 'What is funny?'.
Awards & Recognition: AMVCA 2024 – Best Digital Content Creator (Winner). He won the Emerging Force award at the 2023 Trendupp Awards. In September 2023, he won the Revelation of the Year award at the Wale Adenuga Production's Nigerian Comedy Awards. He was also nominated for The Future Awards Africa's Content Creation Prize in September 2023. He was also selected and recognised as part of Meta's Creators of Tomorrow campaign in March 2024.
In June 2023, Layi was scouted and signed to Penzaaraville Africa, a talent management company.
Acting Career: In addition to being a superstar skit maker and multiple award-winning digital content creator, Wasabi has also taken on minor roles in notable productions. These include Adire and Aníkúlápó: Rise of the Spectre, both streaming on Netflix, and the Prime Video movie Japa. He has been featured in various paid campaigns with big brands like Chicken Republic, Flutterwave, Laughing Out Loud Naija, Ladipoe, and more.
Style & Philosophy: Layi Wasabi says he strives to make his skits simple and family-friendly. His brand of content is characterised by sarcastic depictions of con artists—the corrupt alajo, the corrupt lawyer, the corrupt policeman, and many more. Layi Wasabi has proven that one need not enlist exaggerated sound effects and actions to be considered funny. While others go all-in with sound effects, Layi keeps things a little less noisy. His skits are marked by the total or near-total absence of exaggerated sound effects and slapsticks.
Standing tall at 6.4 feet, you can easily spot him in a crowd of comedians like a giraffe at a penguin party.
Impact: Certainly, Layi Wasabi's impact on the skit-making scene in Nigeria is undeniable. While he may not be the originator of the POV technique, he currently plays a pivotal role in popularising this approach. Many content creators on social media, such as Gilmore and Aderonke now embrace this style.
Muhammed Opeyemi, also known as "Gilmore," is a Nigerian content creator and social media personality based in Lagos. He is best known for his highly relatable skits and public interviews that capture the essence of everyday Nigerian life, particularly focusing on student life.
Gilmore is a native of Lagos State who completed his secondary education in Ibadan before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Lagos. His journey as a content creator began around 2017, when, driven by boredom, he started posting videos on Instagram. His content gained traction around 2022 when he focused on more relatable and character-driven skits. A key part of his early success was the creation of the secondary school student character "Ogunmepon," a popular and funny character that first earned him recognition.
Over the years, Gilmore has expanded his content to include skits and interviews inspired by real-life experiences. He has amassed a significant following on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, where he shares comedic and slice-of-life content. In addition to his individual work, Gilmore is part of the "Gilmore Gang," a collaborative group of content creators who support each other's projects, demonstrating a strong focus on communal growth. He has also ventured into longer-form content, including a YouTube film. His relatable content and strong community involvement have solidified his position as a rising figure in Nigeria's digital space.

Mark Odiete serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Trax Apparel, a Lagos-based fashion and garment business operating in Nigeria's competitive apparel and lifestyle sector. As CEO, his responsibilities encompass the strategic and operational dimensions of leading a clothing brand: overseeing product design and development, managing supplier relationships and production workflows, directing brand strategy and marketing initiatives, and expanding distribution channels through both online e-commerce platforms and offline retail partnerships.
Trax Apparel, under Odiete's leadership, operates within Nigeria's vibrant fashion ecosystem, where local brands compete with international labels for market share among a young, style-conscious consumer base. The company's positioning, product lines, and target demographics would typically be articulated through an active social media presence, e-commerce storefront, lookbooks, and promotional campaigns that showcase seasonal collections, collaborations, and brand milestones. However, publicly available information specific to Mark Odiete in a journalistic, corporate registry, or industry profile sense was limited from the materials accessible during research.
The nature of his role as CEO suggests involvement in key decisions around brand identity, pricing strategy, quality control, and customer acquisition, as well as potential engagement with Lagos's fashion community through participation in trade shows, pop-up events, or partnerships with influencers and stylists. Without independently sourced executive profiles, press interviews, company websites, verified LinkedIn company pages, or media features to expand beyond the CEO title, a fuller biographical narrative—including his background, education, previous ventures, founding story of Trax Apparel, or notable achievements—could not be confirmed from open sources. Further verification through official brand channels, business registries, or industry coverage would allow for a richer, more detailed profile of both Mark Odiete and the Trax Apparel brand trajectory.
